New WhatsApp feature that will rival Google Maps
WhatsApp is determined to become more than just a messaging app. In addition to sending cryptocurrencies, we have now learned that the application is testing a new function to find restaurants and businesses near our location, being able to select them to send them a message. The function is in testing and as explained by the specialized WhatsApp media, it will soon be offered to more users. A few months ago, this store function based on our location began to be tested in Brazil. WhatsApp continues to evolve and expand functions beyond what is expected in a messaging “app”. On this occasion, approaching Google Maps and its use as a locator for all types of businesses in a given area.
WhatsApp will allow you to search for nearby businesses
This search function is called 'Businesses Nearby' and it has already been filtered what the interface would be like. In the search field, in addition to finding files, photos or links, a section of nearby businesses will also be added, based on our location.
What is this new feature really for?
WhatsApp “Business Directory” is a new feature that is currently being tested in a pilot program in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It allows the user to find WhatsApp accounts corresponding to businesses and companies without leaving the application. With "Business Nearby", the user can apply search filters to find different types of businesses and shops according to their location.
Currently, when the user clicks on the search icon, WhastApp shows a series of filters or categories to refine the search in their chats of photos, videos, etc. With "Business Nearby" a new selection of filters is added according to business types. In the example that can be seen in the following image, the categories "Restaurants", "Food stores", "Clothing and accessories" and "More" appear. When the user selects a category, the results of the company WhatsApp accounts will be displayed based on their choice.
